Make the 'general feed' a default location for posting

We are finding several questions asked which could benefit from a wider audience in put but are only being posted in the persons knowledge space as they are selecting the knowledge space based on their department and not on the scope of the question.

Thanks for the interesting request and for sharing your observation. 
I want to give you some context: Previously, the Feed field was the default when creating new questions. We stopped pre-selecting it as customers increasingly reported that sensible questions were accidentally posted in the Feed. Additionally, we observed that users are less likely to consider the best-matching location for their question if the field is preselected.
Nonetheless, I’m interested in looking into your request. From your perspective, what causes your users to post their questions in their Knowledge Space rather than the Feed?

Patricia Roth, Thanks for your response.  Our knowledge spaces are set up based on the functions that the individuals sit in, as there are concerns that some information should be restricted between the two departments e.g. R&D and Supply Chain. In my opinion because of this set up our users don't understand purpose of the knowledge spaces therefore if they are in MSC they just see MSC or General feed as options and will always gravitate to the one that is familiar - e.g. MSC as that is their function. 
If we were to default the selection to General feed, it would only be when someone needs to post something sensitive that they may think how do I limit the audience of this and look for a particular knowledge space.  
So many of our questions could benefit from both audiences answering them therefore making general feed a default would aid the this.  
As admin I am spending a lot of time moving questions to general feed so that they actually get answered as they are then visible to the full Starmind audience.  We are also seeing examples where questions are being asked in general feed and then when they are answered they are being pasted links for answers to similar questions that are in knowledge spaces, however the person asking the question can't view the content as the original question is sitting in a knowledge space they can't access.
Hope this helps explain my suggestion and how it would greatly improve our Starmind experience.
