Admin Feature Ideas

Trying to recommend an expert given there are people with the same first name and surname, given those people also do not have added a profile picture, it is impossible to identify the right colleague. The workaround by entering the email-address sometimes works, but seemingly it's not reliable. In Starmind the only differentiation between people of the same name is the email-address. Please add e.g. a mouseover or other indication to the users' selectable list-entry in the [Recommend}-dialog to allow the selection of the correct person.

With the new AI-generated summaries, using the quick search instead of going straight to the +Ask function has now become more viable. However, ideally now, a quick search that yields a summary and potential expert list is already the endpoint of the user journey because ideally the problem is solved at this point. However, this has so far then not produced an answer view or any other trackable statistic and thus, our enagegment statistics drop despite the system becoming more useful. We need some analytics concept for this case.

If there is an answer to a question that is not helpful for me, this question has nonetheless only few attention of experts. Even if there is an comment that the answer doesn't fix my problem, the question will not find another answer. If I try to ask the question a second time, there is a great chance to get a link to my first question - another answer that doesn't help me. To set the question "unanswered" could help to make it visible again.

Allow admins to convert answers to comments. I have users who mistakenly click answer to ask clarifying questions, rather than clicking the comment button. Rather than making a user re-do the entry, I'd like to be able to quickly convert these as an admin. I thought this idea had already been posted... 🙄

It would be great if a list of certain words/expressions could be provided to the Starmind Product Team that should not be translated into any other language (even though translation feature is activated) as they are fixed terms. Three examples would be: Controlboard (EN) = Kontrollrat (DE) Connectivity Package (EN) = Verbindungspaket (DE) Safety (EN) = Sicherheit (DE) Translating those expressions/words into German would not only be confusing, but at times even wrong because they are fixed terms that are used in English like that in all languages by all employees.

Requesting a geographical visualization of experts' location based on the geodata we already have stored in Active Directory. Previously Ann-Christin Markert had asked for something similar ('Creation of geographical user map'), but this idea was closed. We see a different opportunity. We have geodata already in place in AD: city, office location, country and similar values are stored for most users. We are working with you to ensure these data are automatically accessible to Starmind. Microsoft Excel has for years had a very simple mapping feature which uses geographic coordinates for each geographic entity (e.g. 'New York', 'Paris'), so we wouldn't need to create coordinates. The idea is to plot a map showing the point location for those users who provide Answers (since Questions are anonymous). And then the very useful part would be to have the same plot available per selected Category or Category combination. It would provide an extremely powerful visualization!

As an Admin user (and not a subject-matter expert), I sometimes offer to augment Q&As with my own corporate knowledge (e.g. adding a comment to improve an answerer’s submission). As a result, I get identified as having an interest or even being an expert. I then get notifications and recommendations based on the tags associated with the Q&As that I’ve facilitated, and other colleagues see my name in the list of suggested experts. Is it possible to have a neutral user who can edit Q&A, add content, subscribe to tags, etc. without influencing the AI?

Can you add instructions on how to pin topics as it is not obvious that you have to click on the star next to the topic you wish to pin to make it a key topic?

Today, if you want to tell the Starmind algorithm that you don't want to be notified on a new question or certain topic, you can do this via the feedback option in the notification email and in the question view (pop uu module on the top of the question). Via the user profile, you have the option of removing those topics with which you do not wish to be associated via the profile. So, this will not change the question recommendation of the algorithm. From our perspective it would be very helpful if the algorith could learn from profile changes as well. Especially if users "hide" certain tags in the "Expertise topics" in the user profile. it would be great if it's possible to create company/network specific badges to recognise experts, who have deep knowledge in a certain area or users who are very active in providing answers, comments and feedback. It would be great way to incentivise experts within a network.
